Enemies

The Foundation has quite a few enemies all bent on destroying them, their enemies are restless, ready to destroy. These are referred to as groups of interest.

The Chaos Insurgency

The Chaos Insurgency is a group dedicated to the release of all the SCPs to cause havoc on the world. They want total chaos so they can control all life on earth. Another goal of the Chaos Insurgency is to use the SCPs to their own benefit. According to an SCP 001 proposal, O5-1 founded the "Insurgency" before they betrayed the Foundation.

The Chaos Insurgency was a group of a covert special task force formed by the O5 Council of SCP Foundation, first known under the codename of "Insurgency", and was part of the Foundation.

Unknown to the Foundation, the Insurgency has been secretly operating a rebellion in order to rebel against the Foundation and betray them. After rising an internal conflict within the Foundation, the Insurgency attacked multiple SCP facilities, stolen multiple SCP objects and evacuated the defectors from the Foundation. The defectors soon became known as the Chaos Insurgency.

It is also common that the Insurgency was founded in the years following World War I, usually 1924 or 1925.

Serpent's Hand

The Serpent's Hand is a small but formidable militant leaderless resistance organization opposed to the SCP Foundation and the Global Occult Coalition, whom it wages guerrilla warfare against. It has been responsible for the freeing of several SCPs in the past, as well as the loss of several GOC cells.

The origin of the Hand is unknown.

Whereas many organizations involved in the supernatural and paranormal in the Foundation universe aim to suppress public knowledge of anomalous (supernatural) events and objects in order to preserve a sense of normalcy, the Hand seek to spread awareness of the anomalous to the public and integrate the anomalous into society. This drives them to extreme opposition to the GOC, who see the anomalous as in and of itself anathema to the human race and regularly destroy anomalous objects, often using anomalous technology to do so themselves. They are also opposed to the Foundation due to its containment of anomalies, including imprisonment of sentient anomalies, although they do not despise them as much as they do the GOC.

Many members of the Hand are anomalous themselves or are heavily connected with anomalous humans or humanoids (such as anomalous friends or family).

Their headquarters are The Wanderer's Library,

The Serpent's Hand refers to the SCP Foundation as the "jailors", for locking up the paranormal, and believes that keeping the it secret from the public is wrong. Despite this, the two groups have secretly worked together against more dangerous anomalies and open hostilities are rare.

The Global Occult Coalition on the other hand is viewed with extremely open hostility by the Hand, due them destroying anomalies and are often called "book-burners" because of this. The Hand is only known to use unprovoked violence against the GOC.

You may wonder, what is the Wanderer's Library you talk about?

It's a collection of stories that explore strange and fantastic corners of the world, hidden from ordinary eyes.

Church of the Broken God

The Church of the Broken God is a religious cult that believes in the superiority of machines and the weakness of natural flesh and blood.

The "Broken God" the cult worships is Mekhane.

The Church of the Broken God worships and partakes in the process of mechanization, as they believe that natural life is inherently evil. Many members of the church partake in the mechanization of their bodies as a way to make themselves better in the eyes of their god.

SCP's Associated with the Church

  • SCP-271: A sentient metal disk with the ability to escape any containment.

  • SCP-2406: A 93 m tall nuclear-powered collosus used during "The War of the Flesh", thought to have needed at least 6 operators to work.

  • SCP-882: A mass of rusty cogs that turns by itself and compels people to throw more metal into it. Thought to be the fake heart mentioned in the 001 proposal.

  • SCP-2847: SCP-2847-1 is a massive underground lake containing SCP-2847-2, a bronze humanoid without the need for sustenance.

  • SCP-629: A brass robot with interchanging parts, created by Dr. Wondertainment. Was captured by the church and worshiped as a part of their god before being captured by the Foundation.
